So, here’s the deal: I have way too many articles, videos, and podcasts in read-, watch-, or listen-to lists, apps, or playlists. This newsletter is my attempt to fight that, and, more importantly, actually consume the stuff I saved.
My plan is to publish an issue once a week, with at least three links from any of my consume-it-later lists, plus maybe some other fun things I found across the web. Today, we’re starting off with stuff from my Instapaper.
(On that note: I noticed that Instapaper recently added some weird AI summary features to their app, which, in my opinion, is the exact opposite of what that app is for. So, if you know any cool, minimal, AI-free, and cross-platform Read-It-Later apps, get at me.)
Two more quick things before we start: Firstly, since I plan to make this a weekly thing, most issues probably will be shorter than this one. There are also plans for special issues with longer writing, though. Secondly, I want to acknowledge some other newsletters that were major inspirations for this one: Tom Scott's newsletter, The Verge's Installer Newsletter by David Pierce (subscriber only), and Adam Molina's Cool Supply all deserve a place in your inbox!
But now, let’s jump right in!

The Doc Web – The soft power of Google Doc publishing (escape the algorithm – Substack, sigh) is an awesome piece on, well, the soft power of Google Doc publishing. It's hard to describe but really worth the read.

The New York Times accompanied Miles Taylor (YouTube: Miles in Transit) on "A Farewell Ride with the MetroCard, on Every Transit Line That Uses It." I've recommended Miles in Transit before, but this one is special: a) because it's text and not video and b) because the article was clearly written for people to go "Interesting, didn't know that was a thing" and then carry on with their lives. And, don't get me wrong, that's totally fine. But for me, it was an interesting new way to experience a type of content that I watch a lot. The adventure was of course also documented in video form. (The NYT article might be behind a paywall, I'm a bit unsure.)

It's Data Time downloaded every word from Jetlag: The Game! Such a banger video and a really good use of AI! They also made a dedicated website with interactive graphs and charts for their analysis! (HTTP only)

Paris Marx's guide on how to get off US tech is really worth reading (and following)!

That's all for today! If you need something to listen to, WHERE THE HELL IS MY HUSBAND! by RAYE is still a banger song!
Until next week!
